Abstract
This endometrial atypism has been considered to be valuable in establishing early diagnosis of ectopic gestation.
The present study is concerned with critical evaluation of the significance and accuracy of this test in detecting early ectopic pregnancy.
The following results and conclusion were obtained:
1) Thirty seven cases (68.5%) showed the endometrium to be in the secretary phase, of which19cases revealed decidual reaction. Twenty four cases showed Arias-stella reaction.
2) Seventeen cases (31.5%) showed the endometrium to be in proliferative phase, of which only1 case revealed decidual reaction. Four cases demonstrated Arias-stella reaction.
3) In 32 cases (59.2% ), there could be seen either decidual or atypical reaction, and it is felt that histological study may significantly contribute to early recognition of ectopic pregnancy.
4) No relation ship could be observed between the endometrium changes and vaginal bleeding.
5) Presence of active villi seemed to be not related to the endometrial changes.
6) Incidentally, there were 6 cases with adenomyosis.
